As Fuller and Forbes Primary Care Group prepares to take the helm of Mayflower Medical Group in Plymouth on April 1, 2024, we are not just planning changes; we are revolutionizing patient care. Our strategy is deeply rooted in not only building upon the successful foundation laid by Livewell Southwest but also actively incorporating patient feedback to ensure our services truly reflect the needs of those we serve.
Enhancing Appointment Accessibility
Our first step is the introduction of a more streamlined appointment booking process. Within the first quarter of 2024/25, patients will no longer be required to complete a triage e-consultation before booking appointments. This initiative is designed to make accessing healthcare simpler and more direct, significantly improving the patient experience.
Uniform GP and Nurse Availability
In our commitment to make healthcare more accessible, we will ensure that GP and nurse appointments are available five days a week at all sites. This uniformity in service availability aims to minimize patient travel and provide consistent, high-quality medical care across the community.
Personalized Call Handling
Abandoning the impersonal call centre model, each site will handle calls directly. This shift is geared towards enhancing the quality of patient interaction, ensuring that every call is attended to with a personal touch, thereby reducing waiting times and improving service efficiency.
Revolutionized e-Consultation System
We are excited to launch an innovative e-consultation system, where each submission will be reviewed by a healthcare practitioner capable of providing a range of services from treatment to advice. This system is designed to be more responsive and efficient, ensuring timely care for all our patients.
Empowering Reception Staff with Enhanced Training
Recognising the crucial role of our reception staff, we will focus on care navigation training. This will enable our front-line personnel to provide more comprehensive and informed support to our patients, making every interaction more effective and helpful.
Finalising Changes through Patient and Staff Consultation
Importantly, all these planned changes are not set in stone. Before final implementation, we will conduct thorough consultations with our patients and staff. This collaborative approach ensures that the changes we make are not just top-down decisions but are reflective of the actual needs and preferences of the people we serve. We believe that the best way to improve healthcare is to listen to those who rely on it the most.
As we step into this new era, Fuller and Forbes Primary Care Group is committed to delivering healthcare that is not only high in quality but also molded by the voices of our patients. Our goal is to create a healthcare experience that is truly by the community, for the community.
